Danmei Podcast Guest Co-Host Opportunities
Hey Danmei Dreams readers! I’m having so much fun writing this blog, and I would love to expand into podcasting soon. I would love to work with a rotation of amazing guest co-hosts to discuss the latest and greatest danmei. Please fill out this interest check form after reading the important information below!
Podcast Basics
- Weekly(ish) short episodes (10-20 minutes) discussing recent news and topics, including:
- Releases
- Open pre-orders
- License announcements
- Any other interesting timely danmei topics
- What the co-hosts are currently reading
- Any recent merchandise acquisitions
- Monthly(ish) longer episodes (40-60 minutes) diving deep into a specific book. These episodes may start with a short spoiler-free discussion, then move into spoiler-rich deeper analysis and discussion about the book.
Guest Co-Host Requirements
- Curious, interested, and excited to talk about danmei (you do not need to be an expert)
- Good sense of humor
- Able to speak decent English (English does not need to be a first language, nor do you need to speak perfect English!)
- Ability to record decent audio on a shared podcast platform; special equipment is not required if your built-in computer microphone is sufficient
- You can have and share your own preferences (goodness knows I do!) but no yucking other people’s yums re: ships, headcanons, etc.
Important Notes
- This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity
- There will be no compensation offered now or retroactively for this work
- Currently Danmei Dreams makes no money and costs the owner a lot to run; in the future the owner reserves the right to monetize aspects of the website and podcast entirely at her own discretion, and if she does she will not offer retroactive compensation for past guest co-hosts
- Danmei Dreams will cover all costs associated with creating, producing, and distributing the podcast
- Danmei Dreams will publicize the podcast and give full credit to the guest co-host for their work in perpetuity
Steps Involved
- Fill out this interest check form (please note that this does not obligate you to participate, nor does it guarantee you a spot)
- Danmei Dreams will reach out to set up a voice conversation at your convenience over video conferencing software to discuss the podcast, answer any questions you have, and determine if we have sufficient conversational chemistry
- Danmei Dreams will reach out after the conversation with either an offer to be a guest co-host for an episode or a rejection if it does not seem like a good fit
- Danmei Dreams and the guest co-host will work collaboratively to pick a good date to record
- Danmei Dreams will send you a link to use the podcast recording software
- Danmei Dreams will handle all editing, production, and distribution as well as publicity for the episode; you are encouraged to publicize it as well
- If it seems like fun to continue the partnership, Danmei Dreams will reach out to see if you’re interested in a future episode; there will be no obligation to do further episodes
